Storynote Pricing: Free, Starter, Writer, and Novelist Plans Explained
Storynote has a free plan and three paid plans. The differences come down to how much you can build, how much AI coaching you get each month, and whether you need collaboration and version history. This guide explains what each plan includes and how to change yours.
What's in the free plan
The Free plan costs nothing and is built to let you try real worldbuilding, not a stripped down demo. It includes:
- 1 story, with up to 40 cards
- Maps, timelines, and worldbuilding tools
- The full writing course
Free is a genuine workspace for a single project's planning. The main things it does not include are AI coaching messages and the higher limits of the paid plans, so when you want the coach to develop your story or you outgrow one story, it is time to move up.
What the paid plans unlock
All three paid plans remove the story and card limits and add AI coaching. They step up mainly in coaching volume and a couple of power features.
Starter, $5 per month
Everything you need to write without limits:
- Unlimited stories, cards, and chapters
- Unlimited maps, timelines, and worldbuilding
- Unlimited custom templates
- Manuscript import and export (DOCX)
- The standard Note writing coach with 100 coaching messages per month
- A 7 day free trial
Writer, $8 per month
Everything in Starter, plus the features serious projects lean on:
- Real time collaboration for co writing
- Version history
- The most capable Note coach, with 300 coaching messages per month
- A 7 day free trial
Novelist, $16 per month
Everything in Writer, with the most coaching headroom for finishing a book:
- The most capable Note coach with 900 coaching messages per month
- A 7 day free trial
If your work is collaborative or you want to roll back changes, you need Writer or above, since real time collaboration and version history start there. If you mostly need raw coaching volume, the jump from Writer to Novelist is about messages per month, not new features.
How to upgrade
Open the pricing or upgrade page from within the app, choose the plan you want, and check out. Paid plans include a 7 day free trial, so you can try coaching and the higher limits before you are charged. Your stories, cards, and worldbuilding carry over untouched; upgrading only lifts limits and turns features on.
Managing or canceling your subscription
You manage billing through the secure billing portal linked from your account. From there you can update your payment method, change plans, or cancel. If you cancel, you keep access through the end of your current billing period and then return to the Free plan. Your work stays in your account.
