Managing Your Subscription: Upgrade, Downgrade, or Cancel
Your Storynote subscription is yours to change whenever your needs do. You can move between plans, update your payment details, or cancel, all from the secure billing portal. This guide explains how, and what happens to your work along the way.
Opening the billing portal
Billing is handled through a secure portal you reach from your account settings. The portal is where you manage everything related to payment: your current plan, your payment method, your invoices, and cancellation. Your story data is never affected by anything you do there; the portal only governs billing.
Changing your plan
You can upgrade or downgrade at any time.
- Upgrading lifts your limits and turns on the new plan's features right away. For example, moving to Writer enables real time collaboration and version history. Your stories and cards carry over untouched.
- Downgrading moves you to a plan with lower limits or fewer features. Your work stays in your account; you simply lose access to the features and headroom of the higher tier.
For a full comparison of what each plan includes, see Storynote pricing.
Updating your payment method
If your card expires or you want to pay with a different one, update your payment method in the portal. Keeping it current avoids a failed renewal interrupting your access.
Canceling
You can cancel from the billing portal at any time. When you cancel, you keep access to your paid features through the end of the current billing period, and then your account returns to the Free plan. You do not lose your stories, cards, or worldbuilding; they remain in your account, subject to the Free plan's limits.
If you cancel and come back later, your work is waiting. Upgrading again restores full access to the features and limits of whichever plan you choose.
